EACA Mission Statement
The mission is to continuously advance the professional and academic credibility of athletics coaches in providing a world-class service to athletes, fellow coaches, EAA members and the greater IAAF Family.
A Word from the President
Welcome to the EACA Website
EACA was started in 1960 by a group of European Athletics Federation Head Coaches.
Their purpose was to bring together Head Coaches and Coaches to those athletes who competed at European level, to learn from each other and so raise coaching standards in Europe.
Much has changed since then. EA Member Federations have developed coach certification programs as have National Coaches Associations in several countries. The IAAF CECS program and IAAF Academy program have prepared coaches for a coaching career whether as an honorary or professional coach. National Coaches Associations have grown in number.
So EACA’s purpose has built on that of those original Head Coaches to complement and enrich the work of National Coaches Associations; to supplement the several coach education and certification programs through its annual conference; to seek the opinion of members on issues critical to the sport and to represent those as the voice of European coaches to EA and via the IAAF Coaches Commission to IAAF Council; and to be a Professional Association for coaches in supporting them in their function in personal or national roles.
EACA in effect, then, creates the climate for the European family of coaches and coaches associations to grow; and for athletics coaching, as a career, to flourish.
